The phones at Mike Cox's office are ringing off the hook today. Students all across the state are calling the Michigan Attorney General and demanding he get out of bed with Governor Granholm's special interests, and put students ahead of Lansing's biggest political contributors. By stopping an illegal State Police headquarters scam, Attorney General Cox has the opportunity to quit abetting favors to big donors, save taxpayer money and give Michigan's students the scholarship they earned and deserve.
As Michigan residents suffer, Granholm and Cox give big favors to political contributors at the expense of taxpayer dollars and student scholarships. Tell Mike Cox to stop this illegal pork project and take a stand for the students of Michigan. Visit NoBrokenPromise.com
The influence the Detroit Metropolitan Area has over our government is tremendous. It can only really be appreciated with numbers: the Detroit Metropolitan area controls 51 of the 110 seats in the State House, 17 of the 38 seats in the State Senate, and 5-6 of Michigan's 15 seats in the US Congress.
The DMA has lost numerous citizens because of its poor leadership. Despite this, Democrats - if they retain the majority of their power next year - will probably attempt to retain their stronghold in Detroit through redistricting after the 2010 census. This makes a Republican majority imperative for next year, to ensure fair redistricting.
