Convention Day 2: Interview with State Rep. Jack Hoogendyk

    (Promoted by Nick...)

US Senate candidate Jack Hoogendyk was kind enough to sit down with me for an interview.  He is taking on Senator Carl Levin this November.  Here what he has to say about Carl Levin, Detroit Public Schools, the automotive industry and more.

You can listen to the interview here.

    Making an exception...

This is Right Michigan.  It isn't RightAmerica or RightNation or anything like that and we generally try to have a specific Michigan focus in everything that gets front-paged here.  That's both the beauty and the strength of this site.

That said, I was just pointed to the following web-ad from the McCain campaign and it is, in my mind, one of the most devestating political pieces I've ever seen.  Thus, I make an exception this once...

Kudos to the McCain media team.

Unsolicited free advice were money no concern... Run this thing non-stop in every battleground state in the nation and watch Obama's numbers plummet.

    Wow.

Obama "grateful" for Kwame (unless this "isn't the Kwame Kilpatrick" he's known)

    By Nick, Section Multimedia

(Note: You can continue to follow Dennis, live from the halls of Congress via his LiveBlog below...)

So Kwame's going to jail, huh?  How long, do you figure, before Barack Obama tells us that this is "not the Kwame Kilpatrick I know?"  From the sounds of these remarks (delivered last May to the Detroit Economic Club) the Barackstar might have to do some back-peddling and soon.

You can check out the entire speech and the Democratic Mayor of Detroit's fawning introduction of the Democratic POTUS nominee HERE.  Interestingly, it sounds like Kilpatrick is an awfully frequent Obama fundraiser too.

If Obama does denounce Kilpatrick he'll be among the first.  Unfortunately it seems like Democrats everywhere are more than willing to turn a blind eye to criminality and lawbreaking... assuming the offender carries a DNC membership card.  Will Obama do the right thing or should we expect the same old partisan politics?

Text of Obama's tribute to Kwame below:

    Lowering the T Boone

As it turns out, the T Boone plan does keep money at home -- but not our home.  His advocacy of the "Pickens Plan" kinda gives us a whole new meaning to "follow the green", and it has little to do with windmills.

EAG presents Profiles in Courage: The Grand Rapids School Board

    By EducationActionGroupdotOrg, Section Multimedia

This video was developed in part because while scores of other districts in Michigan have bargained agreements by compromising within the fiscal realities of each district, the case in Grand Rapids, on the other hand, has been quite different.  As the film points out, the public fight began when the union president proclaimed, "We are at war."
