    Police investigating Gary Peters' boss

    The Peters Report on RightMichigan.com

Police are now investigating Democratic congressional candidate Gary Peters' boss at Central Michigan University after she was caught on video Monday accosting a student and physically striking a camera which was recording the incident.

The incident, which was the lead story on WNEM TV-5's 11 o'clock newscast, occurred when Students Against Gary Peters spokesman Dennis Lennox attempted to serve Dean Pamela Gates - who heads the academic college that Peters teaches in - with a routine Freedom of Information Act request.

Gates initially refused to accept the request, which complied with Michigan law and sought "access to and/or copies of every e-mail sent and received" by the dean "concerning Professor Gary Peters," who is running against Congressman Joe Knollenberg (R-Oakland County). Lennox was forced to wait while she contacted CMU's attorney, who instructed her she was legally required to accept the FOIA request.

After being served, she became aggressive and physically attacked Lennox, who was holding his camera - which was turned on after the incident heated up.

Lennox filed a complaint with CMU Police this morning, and as the Midland Daily News reported today, Gates filed a complaint against the student for serving her with a FOIA request.

10 years ago Deans could pull this crap and get away with it - their word against a student.

Now that you can carry around a video recorder in your pocket, this kind of thing will likely come out more and more.

that most Deans don't run around assaulting students they disagree with politcially.

Just because a student is persistent and dogged in his pursuit of the truth doesn't give anyone the right to get physical.

Could you imagine the uproar if a Dean at Hillsdale or Spring Arbor or Cleary was video-taped hitting a member of the College Democrats?  They'd be sitting in a cell waiting for their termination papers to be formally filed.

But a lefty Dean assaults a conservative and it's the conservative's fault for filing a FOIA or for having a political opinion.

The left's reaction to this is sickening.

Why wont he post the entire video? (none / 0) (#3)

If he doesn't have anything to hide, how come we're only seeing what happens after it appears the camera is hit? Is this an unprovoked attack or a response to his actions?
