    POINT OF INFORMATION

With all the posturing on both sides of the aisles, I have the feeling that the people of Michigan were ill served. Republicans wanted more cuts---but it was unclear to me, maybe others, what more they wanted to cut and where. The Democrats wanted concessions for particular budget items and went for a tax increase. Whether that was right or wrong, time will tell. My gut feeling is that both sides of the aisle took care of themselves first!
    !!!

I'm sure that the legislature did not vote to go back to a part-time legislature! [If I'm wrong, I'd rejoice.] I'm sure the legislature did not vote any change to their salary [pension] after they leave office. My assumption is that they keep their salary for the rest of their life. If I'm wrong on this, please let me know. I'm sure that the legislature did not eliminate their health benefits after they leave office. Again, if I'm wrong, please let me know.

If the people of Michigan want to recall their elected officials, they might consider recalling all of them and then adjusting their health and pension, and also reducing the legislature to 60 days a year.

Based upon my understanding of Christian scripture, Good Shepherds take care of their sheep; bad one's don't. Somehow, both sides of the aisle [our  shepherds] have gotten that message confused. However it happened, in whatever year it happened, they took care of themselves!  Now when people are losing those benefits [teachers, autoworkers, etc.] they don't have the courage to to do the correct thing! Hierlings!!!

I'd be interested in people's corrections of fact and comments.

Reps and Senators do not get any sort of pension at all.  While they are in office they can contribute to a 401k plan just like most employers offer.  The House voted months ago to take away their retirement healthcare, and they even went a step beyond and voted themselves a pay cut.

These things could have been discovered with about 5 minutes of research.  Why would you feel the need to post ignorant claims on a blog?  What purpose does this accomplish?
