Granholm endorses Clinton and I've got a few questions
By Nick, Section News Posted on Mon Oct 22, 2007 at 08:49:06 AM EST
Buried in the weekend news cycle last Friday was the worst kept secret in Lansing, the final and official unveiling of Governor Jennifer Granholm's choice for President of the United States in 2008, New York Senator and former First Lady Hillary Clinton.
It's been widely assumed for over a year now that the next step on the Granholm express would be a cabinet position in a Clinton White House, should Hillary pull off the win, so it's no surprise that she made the pick she did. Besides, she couldn't pick John Edwards... he's the establishment choice at the Michigan Democrat Party and Mark Brewer's BFF. If the Butch Hollowell experiment taught us anything it's that Jen and Mark don't usually share Thanksgiving together (assuming they each celebrate a day most Democrats consider one of history's "lies" and a myth epitomizing hate, racism and genocide as the White Man sought to butcher the peaceful native inhabitants of the supposed "new world," subjugating those they couldn't kill by thumping them with giant Bibles, but I digress).
But now that the cat is officially out of the bag, so to speak (and you can read all about it at the FREEP), Jennifer Granholm has some splainin' to do.
Here's hoping our good friends in the MSM have the opportunity and the cajones to ask the tough questions (heaven knows the governor won't grant ME an interview). Questions like:
Read on...
Why did you endorse a candidate who signed a pledge promising not to step foot inside the state of Michigan before the primary? And no, we don't want to hear that Iowa and New Hampshire are "holding her hostage." They do not have a gun pointed at her head. If she wanted to be here she would be.
Do you think voters in Michigan should actually vote for someone who thinks so little of them that she actually signs a piece of paper promising not to ask for their votes?
What's more important, Michigan voters or a cabinet position in a Clinton White House?
Which cabinet position were you promised?
You've talked a lot about how matters at the federal level have contributed to the decline of the domestic auto industry, Michigan's biggest job provider. But the Democrats in Congress are currently pushing legislation that would so radically increase fuel economy standards that the Big 3 claim it will push them into bankruptcy. Hillary Clinton did not scuttle the move in the Senate, a failure that could cost the state tens of thousands of jobs. Is that the sort of help you're looking for from Washington DC?
You've been saying now for years that you're "in negotiations" with the feds on that long-promised health-care solution. Other states like Mass seem to be getting things done but you aren't. Have you talked to Mrs. Clinton about the problems you've been having with those troublesome feds? Any chance she can give you a hand or is that just one more campaign promise we should forget about?
The LA Times reports over the weekend that Hillary Clinton received tens of thousands of dollars from cooks, buss boys and waiters in New York's Chinatown, most of whom could not be located while those that could often lived in ramshackle accommodations. Many also appear to be foreign nationals.
This, of course, follows hot on the heels of Clinton's involvement with Norman Hsu, a long-time wanted felon and big-dollar Clinton 2008 fundraiser who also gave you a pocket full of cash. She's been forced to return tens of thousands of dollars in illegal contributions already and every time a stone is turned over something else seems to crawl out.
Do you believe that the next leader of the free world should be held to a higher ethical standard? And do you have any questions or concerns about Hillary Clinton's personal or campaign ethics with regards to the almost daily fundraising scandals?
Hillary Clinton has openly advocated a massive tax hike by repealing the federal tax cuts of 2001. You just rammed through the biggest tax-hike in Michigan's history at nearly $1.4 billion without cutting one dollar's worth of spending to this point. Do you support Clinton's move towards a massive federal tax hike on top of the Democrat tax hike you just strapped to the backs of moms and dads in Michigan? Is her penchant for raising taxes something that attracted you to her in the first place?
You told the Detroit Free Press that you believe that Senator Clinton is right when it comes to the Iraq War. So you and Senator Clinton both disagree with the vast majority of Michigan Democrats who believe we should leave Iraq immediately?
Neither you nor Hillary Clinton has a very good record on gun control. In fact, Clinton's spoken out publicly against the National Rifle Association. In a state that loves it's hunting and tends to support the second amendment from one side of the political spectrum to the other, do you think Clinton is right when she talks about the need to stand up to the NRA?
You and Hillary Clinton have both, on record, supported partial birth abortion. This, of course, is a procedure that involves the birth of a child, feet first, until only a portion of the kid's head remains in eutero before stabling scissors into the base of his neck, shoving a vacuum inside his head, literally sucking his brain out and then crushing his skull to kill him.
I've attached an illustration just so we're all on the same page.
A vast majority of the American people (and your church) disagree with the barbaric procedure. Three questions:
A) How do either of you sleep at night?
B) How do either of you sleep at night?
C) How do either of you sleep at night?
Why didn't you announce your endorsement at one of Hillary Clinton's Michigan campaign stops? Does it have something to do with the fact that she's flipped your state the bird and refuses to step foot on Michigan soil?
Why did you make your big announcement on a Friday and bury it in the weekend news cycle? Are you embarrassed by Senator Clinton?
Will you, right now, on the record, denounce Hillary Clinton's decision to ignore the state of Michigan?
Isn't it funny how none of the tough questions ever really get asked?
