State of ConservatismBy jlauster, Section News
I recently was at a seminar where the guest speaker was Dan Pero who spoke about using imagery to advance conservatism. This is an important topic to Republicans due to the fact that we are consistently out-blogged by the political left as well as demonized as facists in the media. This article discusses my thoughts and opinions regarding the state of conservatism and I welcome all feedback. Thanks for your time.
The state of conservatism is not in good health. In fact, one could say it is in traction in the intensive care unit at a hospital after being hit head on by a semi-tractor. There are many things wrong and it is going to take a long time in therapy to rebuild conservatism into a better and stronger brand. The brand has been damaged by politicians and a lack of leadership from elected officials not supporting and fighting for conservative principles. Most recently, our elected officials in the legislature voted to increase taxes, whereas, they should have shut down the state government. This would have forced the reformation and restructuring of state government. In the near term, conservatism would have taken a "hit on the chin" for not being popular and supporting tax increases. Conservatism is about smaller government and letting people keep larger portions of their hard-earned money to support their families among many other conservative principles that will be presented and discussed in future postings. Please stay tuned and feel free to reply with your individual thoughts and opinions...
