    The Peters Report on RightMichigan.com

In a radio interview with Mitch Albom, Central Michigan University professor-turned-congressional candidate Gary Peters said his position is "part-time" even though his contract with the school says "[a]s a full-time employee we expect you to give primary commitment to the duties of this assignment during the time of your appointment."

Speaking shortly into the broadcast on WJR AM-760, he said: "I may want to reiterate that the Griffin position is a part-time position at the university fully funded by private dollars."

Peters earns $2,031.25 an hour and taxpayer-funded perks for teaching at CMU at a time when tuition rose 21 percent this school year.

As I hear the story from a former CMU student, the previous occupants of that professorship chair all did full-time work, or at least acted like they wanted to be a professor.

Yes, they were politically connected people too, and probably got that job through those connections, but they did good work in their job.

Either Mitch Albom didn't do his homework before interviewing Gary Peters or he just wanted to toss softball questions to Gary Peters.  Either way, the interview didn't enhance Mitch Albom's program.

Al Franken is a big, fat, stupid white man... (none / 0) (#11)

Sound familiar? I bet you weren't defending Limbaugh against Franken's remarks. Limbaugh may not have graduated from college (big whoop - if graduating from college makes one smart, then how do you explain Bush and Gore being so stupid?), but he's a shrewd businessman, who knows politics (as well, or better than I do).

Actually Communistic Guru, from what I've seen you bring to the table, you aren't so bright yourself. So, I won't lose sleep tonight based on your opinion that Franken is somehow smarter than me. As Forrest Gump said, "stupid is as stupid does." With that as the standard, Al Franken is the stupidest man in America.

Oh, and regarding progressives not getting a chance - WWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. That's exactly what I meant by "conservatives won't let him." Sorry, my English must be way too sophisticated for you. I'll try to use Franken-esque language - you know, stupidity, to help you understand in the future.

Wow. Great argument. That certainly validates my point that when you don't have a leg to stand on you stoop to name-calling.  But you're not even good at that. I don't think Bush is stupid by a long shot: I just don't think he's the best of anything this country has to offer. I certainly don't think Nobel Peace Prize winner Gore is stupid, and in fact part of his problem is he is too smart. I would not even call you stupid. You seem to be doing a great job of demonstrating that fact all by yourself anyway. But I know I'm wasting my time presenting a reasoned debate to someone with your persuasive writing skills.

If I'm not so smart then you should have no trouble picking my arguments apart, but I see you are too afraid to even try. Hell, there are a heck of a lot more people that just Al Franken that are smarter than you.

Not sure what argument? (none / 0) (#14)

I haven't seen you write any persuasive argument actually, so what is it I am supposed to articulate an argument for?

Basically, what I have found with Dumbocrats, like yourself, is that reasonable arguments don't work. I have a brother who was raised in an entrepreneur's home (my dad's), taught the principles of free market economics and republicanism, and then, thanks to him being basically brain-dead, became a union thug (his first year in the plant, he was written up for working too hard), and now believes in such ridiculous concepts as "fair trade," and that the WTO has CAUSED young people to be arrested and put in detention facilities. Sheesh!

Al Gore knows nothing about science. Basic elementary school science teaches that when water become ice, it displaces more water than its fluid equivalent. IOW (for those of you from Rio Linda), when the ice melts, water levels go down. Think of it like this: put an ice cube in your glass so that the liquid is right to the brim. Then, let it melt. Does the glass overflow? Of course not; the level actually goes down. Ice took up more room than its water equivalent. There are a dozen other things that I could point out (and have been pointed out by actual scientists) where Gore is dead-wrong on the "science" of global warming...er...cooling...er...climate change...er...whatever...

RE: education and being smart. You disprove your own argument Communistic Guru. IF I'm so stupid and I am working on my PhD, that should show that just because someone has a degree, it doesn't make them smart.

Another hilarity is that for nearly 7 years I have listened to the liberal media, and its sheople shouting from the rooftops how stupid Bush is. Now, all of a sudden, Mr. Communistic Guru thinks that Bush is smart. Wow! What next? Will Mr. Communistic Guru also say that Bush didn't lie about the WMD?

Free market philosophy is its own best defender. I have no need to bother with the likes of you, since the policies that you advocate have proven deficient in every country in which it has been tried: the Soviet Union, Cuba, China, Poland, East Germany, etc. Where free enterprise has flourished, we have created wealth previously unknown to the world, and still yet unknown to most of the world's population. Instead of moving on to spread that wealth to other parts of the world, we are too busy trying to socialize the best industries that make America great. Instead of creating prosperity, we are forcing "democracy" on people who don't want it, or if they did have it, would use it to elect another oppressive regime, worse than the original.

My words are wasted on the likes of you. You believe that you know something, that your arguments are rock-solid and can't be refuted by "stupid" people like me. Yet, each and every post that I make, each moment I live, each thought that passes through my brain, disproves your ignorant views. I don't need to debate you because reality disproves you. Your communistic rhetoric shows you to be the dullard that you are.

I expect another post from you in regards to this comment. I am confident that you will present nothing that disproves free enterprise, liberty, private property rights, and the pursuit of happiness. All you are capable of doing is trying to kill the Golden Goose (capitalism) which is what has created the medium in which you argue against it.

Stupid is as stupid does. It's a truism. Look in the mirror, and you'll see it proved daily.
