I have the awesome opportunity to see the Republican presidential debate live in Dearborn, Michigan today at the Ford Center. While I have met most of the GOP's presidential candidates, I am extremely excited to see them debate in person.
Since I'm writing prior to actually seeing the debate, I thought I would give a brief glimpse of my predictions today. These are based on careful observations made over the past few months on the campaigns. Commentary under the fold...
Channel McCain: While the season started out with promise, ratings have continued to decline and it is now losing in every major demographic. Network Executives are looking to burn the remaining episodes and pull the plug on this candidate by next year.
Channel Romney: Usually polished and handsome, this channel seems to have some technical difficulties. Perhaps our networking cables are crossed, but this series randomly invokes different broadcasts. Hence, viewers have claimed that it seems to have the appearance of "flipping." We will try to sort these issues out soon.... Channel Giuliani: Giuliani: Star of the hit series on the Do It Yourself Network "New York, New York" which premiered back in September of 2001. Rudy remains the only cast member left on the show, which premiers this winter for its 6th season. The premiere episode entitled "Representing Who" will deal with his struggle to find out who he really is trying to lead. Channel Thompson: Anticipation for this long awaited drama has been intense. While some critics have prematurely claimed that it is going to lazy and overrated, it has yet to be seen. The director of the show has a broad work history, from acting to farm boy, and the final result promises to be a surprise. Channel Brownback: "BrownBack to You" In this sitcom that has remained under the radar for nearly nine months gets started with Sam and Tom running for President of the United States. One hilarious scene ponders the question, "If a Republican candidate runs and gets zero votes in a primary....was he really a candidate?" Channel Paul: Everybody Hates Ron: A cult favorite among viewers and voters. While not appealing to a mass audience this show manages to get picked up for additional episodes. Behind the scene Ron Paul has became as popular with his fellow cast mates as Isaiah Washington was on Grey's Anatomy. According to our communication sources the Huckabee and Tancredo channels will, unfortunately, not be broadcasted today. All joking aside, of course, any of these candidates (er...except maybe Paul) would be better than any one of the Democrats. Putting aside that they would not be introducing heavy socialist programs to the U.S., at least the Republicans care enough to visit Michigan. (Though we say it a lot...) Michigan's problems are pretty unique - and pretty serious. The GOP candidates seem to realize that fact.
