BREAKING: Senate passes fix for Dem tax hike, reduces rate and total tax amount!By Nick, Section News
It can hardly be called a tax cut since it was only a month ago that the Democrats gave us this massive tax hike in the first place but the Senate GOP today passed on a party-line vote a fix that replaces the $1.513 BILLION Democrat sales tax on services with a spike to the MBT.
We expected that to happen. What we didn't expect was that the final numbers would result in a net cut. But it looks like that's what Bishop pulled off. The House has suggested replacing the sales tax on services with a 33% spike to the MBT with a cap that protects giant manufacturers. The Senate just approved a replacement based on a 13.85% hike to the MBT with a much larger cap that protects small businesses. The best way to know it's a step in the right direction? The Democrats are in a tizzy right now screaming "deficit" and "irresponsible." Of course, if the House were in session today they could do something about it...
