Granholm promises not to raise taxes (again)...

Governor Granholm just told the Ivory Tower that she's will not raise our gas taxes:

"People are hurting. That's a tax everyone feels in Michigan..."

So when you say you won't raise that tax does that mean you're actually going to make raising the tax the cornerstone of your budget plan during next year's State of the State like you did the sales tax on services this year?  You know, the one you swore in 2006 you wouldn't raise?

The Governor will forgive me if I don't put a lot of stock in her pledge.  I HOPE she'll forgive me if I now officially begin to prepare for and expect a gas tax hike.  Because we've heard it all before, Madame Governor.  We've heard it all before.

Where's the rest of the answer? (none / 0) (#1)

I think Jenny got cut off a little early there.  She says "no" to an increase in sales tax (which remains true to this day) but goes on to explain the need to expand a tax base that has disappeared.
