When will Republicans step-up and engage?  We are in a battle - plain and simple - it's a battle of ideals, a way of life, and for our future.  The problem, the GOP isn't controlling the debate - the Democrats have it in the bag.

War on Iraq - Dems control the debate.
Health care - Dems control the debate.
Education - Dems control the debate.
Social Security - well, no one knows what's going on there.

The Legislature has a real opportunity to make a difference.  The governor owes so many unions and special interests for saving her job in November that she's going to come out with anything and everything to pay them back.  What will the Republicans do and how much will they let her get away with?

It was pointed out in an opinion editorial on Tuesday saying we needed more partisanship.  I think we do.  Republicans are so consumed with being perceived as the nice ones, they are starting to forget how to use their backbone.  We need to take the debate back.  We need to stand up for our values and fight for what we say we believe in rather than compromise because we think it is the best we can get.

The Legislature has a huge opportunity - to stake a claim on a variety of issues.  The GOP can fight to protect school funding.  The GOP can fight to protect taxpayer dollars.  The GOP can fight to reduce the size of government.

Will the GOP engage in the fight for our ideals and values; or will they stand idly by and let the Democrats  - led by Granholm, and wannbe future gubernatorial candidates Whitmer & Dillon and congressional candidate Schauer - completely destroy what's left of Michigan.

So, when will the GOP stand up and fight?
