Friends,
It has just come to my attention that State Representative George Cushingberry (D-Detroit), author of the proposed legislation to increase the state tax on your income by 17%, is holding a 'Town Hall Meeting' this coming Monday, June 18th at Macomb Community College. The purpose of this meeting is to demonstrate public SUPPORT for his INCOME TAX HIKE! How will he do that? He is holding the meeting at 3:00pm, when most private sector citizens are still at work, but after public school teachers are done for the day. Clever timing for a 'public meeting.' If there is any way you can get some time off or leave work early, PLEASE show up at this meeting. We need to tell Rep. Cushingberry to get his hands out of our wallets. The media needs to see that citizens oppose his income tax increase. Just show up at Macomb Community College Center Campus on M-59 and Garfield Road this coming Monday at 3:00 (get there a few minutes early if you can, the meeting is in the Cultural Center which takes a few minutes to find). The college is about three miles east of Lakeside Mall. If you want to protest, then ...protest! Or fill out a card indicating that you wish to speak during the meeting. I will have free "Recall Lansing, Recall Granholm" t-shirts to hand out to anyone attending that can slip it over whatever shirt they are wearing. Forward this email to anyone in the Detroit metro are who would oppose this tax hike. Please email me back if you will be there, I know not everyone can make it, but I need to know who is ready to take this politician on!
