    Hey Moochers - Here's a Bill You Will Like -

    The lady who rejoiced that Prez Obama would pay for her gas and take care of her mortgage will certainly be disappointed, but she'd probably be a big fan of Michigan state Rep. Kenneth Horn and the other Republicans who co-sponsored House Bill 6551 (named below). The bill would spread the wealth by giving every household a $150 or $300 handout to reimburse gasoline purchases.

    Apparently party label doesn't count for much when it comes to politicians' willingness to spread someone else's wealth - they're all eager to play.

    ~~~~~~
    Co-sponsors of HB 6551 (all are Republican): John Stahl, Paul Opsommer, Marty Knollenberg, David Robertson, Kevin Green, Tim Moore, David Law, Philip LaJoy, Tory Rocca, James Marleau, Dave Hildenbrand, Robert Dean, Tom Casperson, Tom Pearce, Mike Nofs, Richard Ball, Chuck Moss, Kim Meltzer, Rick Jones.
    (2) IF THE CREDIT ALLOWED UNDER THIS SECTION EXCEEDS THE TAX
    8 LIABILITY OF THE TAXPAYER FOR THE TAX YEAR, THAT PORTION THAT
    9 EXCEEDS THE TAX LIABILITY SHALL BE REFUNDED.
    Here's the thing, does this mean that portion that exceeds the liability isn't doled out? If that's the case, what's wrong with this? Then effectively your state tax liability becomes zero if you hit that mark, not negative like Obama wants to do with his sorry ass tax policies.
    You have to pay taxes to get it. That's how I see it.
    Wouldn't it make more sense... (none / 0) (#6)
    ...just to flat-out abolish the sales tax that we pay on gas?
    You want to "spread the wealth"?
    Well, you can start by not taking it in the first place.
