Al Gore, Carbon Credits and the Weather Channel

A man walks down the street
He says why am I soft in the middle now
Why am I soft in the middle
The rest of my life is so hard
    I need a photo-opportunity
I want a shot at redemption
Don't want to end up a cartoon
    In a cartoon graveyard

    You can call me Al....

    More below:

I rather like global warming (or is it cooling???). Here in Michigan it tends to warm things up when I can't stand another day of cold, and this weekend offered one more chance to hit the snowmobile trails.

As much as I have become fan of this environmental trend, it seems the validity of global warming has come into question, again.

In an article by Jeff Poor, the founder of The Weather Channel chalks global warming up to a bunch of hot air.

The Weather Channel has lost its way, according to John Coleman, who founded the channel in 1982. Coleman told an audience at the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change on March 3 in New York that he is highly critical of global warming alarmism.

"The Weather Channel had great promise, and that's all gone now because they've made every mistake in the book on what they've done and how they've done it and it's very sad," Coleman said. "It's now for sale and there's a new owner of The Weather Channel will be announced - several billion dollars having changed hands in the near future. Let's hope the new owners can recapture the vision and stop reporting the traffic, telling us what to think and start giving us useful weather information."

Coleman also told the audience his strategy for exposing what he called "the fraud of global warming." He advocated suing those who sell carbon credits, which would force global warming alarmists to give a more honest account of the policies they propose.

Ahhh, could the courts in America deliver a conservtive victory? Actually, this would be a victory for common sense, not just conservatives.

"[I] have a feeling this is the opening," Coleman said. "If the lawyers will take the case - sue the people who sell carbon credits. That includes Al Gore. That lawsuit would get so much publicity, so much media attention. And as the experts went to the media stand to testify, I feel like that could become the vehicle to finally put some light on the fraud of global warming."

I for one am looking forward to seeing Al called out on the carpet. I actually started watching his movie and had to laugh out loud when he said something like, "political will is a renewable resource". I was busy laughing so if I misquote this, please forgive me. I am sure the responsible liberals will point it out.

Seriously, I do believe we have a responsibility not to trash our planet. We don't litter. I turn the water off when I brush my teeth. I don't burn olastic in my yard.

But global warming and carbon credits? Maybe Mr. Gore was listenting to the Paul Simon song when he came up with this one:

A man walks down the street
He says why am I soft in the middle now
Why am I soft in the middle
The rest of my life is so hard
    I need a photo-opportunity
I want a shot at redemption
Don't want to end up a cartoon
    In a cartoon graveyard

    You can call me Al....

Kudos to the Heartland Institute for putting it together. Now we'll see if the MSM has the integrity to cover it, or will they just reinforce their irrelevence and leave that to alternative media (including this website and Wendy's blog).
