A Harvard study shows that the students under the Texas 10% plan get better grades and have a higher graduation rate.  Geographic, economic, and ethnic diversity have improved.  For the first time both kids from rural farming areas and inner-city urban areas are getting a fair shot at the state's best education.  California and Florida have similar laws on the books.

Kids from rural Olivet and kids from inner-city Detroit would get the same chance as kids from wealthy districts.  There have also been some reports that certain universities like to "cherry pick" students from other states and foreign countries to boost their income.

Certain Michigan Universities would rather educate students from out of state or from foreign countries such as China because they can make more money.  They have forgotten their mission is to educate Michigan Students First!  Or they should stop accepting public tax dollars.  If they want to become elitist and only accept certain types of students then they can go private.

To any University that is "cherry picking" for income, I say "Shame On You!"  It's time to put Michigan Students First! at taxpayer funded Michigan Universities.
