A predetermined candidate would have no problem with an integrity breakdown in Michigan politics.  By golly OUR credentials committee would NEVER stoop to this miserable level of candidate manipulation, right?  Right???

Asa result, the GOP "Credentials Committee" met and tried to disqualify new delegates who signed up after county caucuses (signing up after the county caucuses is permissible under Article XIII, Section 4 of the Wisconsin GOP's constitution). The motion was defeated 7 to 5 with 4 absences. Now the state GOP wants to re-fight this fight tonight and get the 4 absentee committeemen to show up."

Two advisers to Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich say he will formally end is campaign next Tuesday and will likely endorse Mitt Romney.

Gingrich had pinned his hopes on a surprise showing in Delaware but fell short.

He had been hinting in recent days that his campaign was nearing an end. His decision to officially shut down the effort comes as Romney has a lock on the GOP nomination.

Yet again, we need to go back to Yogi Berra . . . and then go below the fold.

I don't know what any of y'all do or don't know about those in the sea services (Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard), but if you're going to challenge the integrity of such a person, then you'd better have proof-in-hand that the challenge is valid . . . otherwise it gets unpleasant in a hurry.

That, by the way, applies to veterans of those services as well.  As Nick DeLeeuw pointed out a few years ago, different "go" words apply in different cultures.  I'm a retired sailor, so there're plenty of tags you can legitimately hang on me, many will be accurate, and not all will be kind.  But to accuse a Sailor, Marine, or even a Coastie of being either a "thief" or a "liar" . . .

The joke, however, is on us. They aren't going anywhere.  

A month later, its as if nothing has happened.  Bobby Schostak remains in a position of trust at the top of the MiGOP, Anuzis has started his reelection bid for the super-delegate spot, (committeeman) Sharon Wise is doing as she is told and continuing damage control, and who the heck knows who/what Bill Runco is doing?

And some are beginning to ask why we pursue this.  Their concern is over the damage done to the upcoming political contests pointed at those of us who are calling out the corrupt acts as we observe them.  Why would we do this to the Republican party?  Why would we undermine the very tool which is there to help elect Republicans to office?  What gives us the right to be judge, jury, executioner?

An answer: Wrong is wrong.  We must self police. And since they are still here?  At best we are simply the constable, or maybe a little bit of prosecutor.
