    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Rep. Bentivolio, You Want Them To Read What They Pass?

Heaven's to Betsy, what has this world come to when the Ruling Class would be required to read Laws that govern us, and they exempt themselves from?

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman Kerry Bentivolio introduced the Read the Bills Act of 2013. This legislation makes important changes to the way Congress does business by giving ample time to review legislation before it is voted on, requiring that all votes on passage be taken by roll call, and by providing that legislation shows in context how it modifies existing law.

It is a basic moral question that a member of Congress should only vote to pass legislation having read and understood it. The Read the Bills Act accomplishes this by requiring that every vote on a bill's passage take place no less than 7 days after the text of the bill is available on-line to the public where it can easily be found. There is an exception to the "7 day rule" for declarations of war.

"It is our duty to be transparent to the constituents we serve. This legislation will increase transparency and ensure that Congress doesn't pass legislation to find out what is in it," said Rep. Bentivolio. "Every law affects how the American people live and it is a dereliction of the Oath of Office to pass laws without knowing what they are."

Rep. Bentivolio's, bill may be viewed here.

Uh-oh.  No more "unanimous consent" sneak through?   The oligarch running the District of Corruption isn't going to be too happy about that, Rep. Bentivolio.  However, you have my support on this bill.  As an aside... any friendly wagers that this legislation dies in committee like S.3360 did in the Senate last year?

My friend Denny, has an ongoing weekly selection of trophy winners.  Rightmichigan now has its first Officially declared trophy winner selection.  Unfortunately, in Michigan, it goes to someone allegedly on The Right who habitually demonstrates when a politician outlives his usefulness.

"I alienated some in the Jewish (community) when I called the speaker 'Adolf,' " Patterson wrote. "I was commenting on his leadership style. To those offended, I apologize."

Yes, let's steer the conversation as to "not offend" the Fiegers, and the Levins of Michigan, because you were, yet again, Above the Law.  Congratulations, Babbling Brooksie.  You are A$$hole Of The Week.

Ps. Brooksie, you're also reason #5,962.

The adulterer who has since "evolved," calls out the spineless, Progressive, Crony capitalist in bed with the ChiComs, loves ObamaCare Exchanges, amnesty, and hiking taxes.

MIaGOPC'd, you've got serious problems in 2014.  Dwindling election results in '12 should be the first clue.

    Teaser from MIRS

    QUOTE OF THE DAY

"I can deal with a world that has same-sex marriage."

    - GOP former Attorney General Mike COX, a self-described social conservative who helped lead the charge for Michigan's same-sex marriage ban, acknowledging his shift on the issue.

Cox: I'm Not Against Gay Marriage
"Mike COX, the former Republican Attorney General who led the legal charge to uphold the state's constitutional ban on gay marriage, told MIRS today he's had a change of heart and could support legislative same-sex marriage if Prop 2 of 2004 were not in place."

Congratulations, Mike.  You're lucky to have someone in your life as dense as Laura, who will still accept you as having any credibility.

"I looked up my family tree and found three dogs using it" - Rodney Dangerfield

Here we go again in Michigan.

Ronna Romney McDaniel, granddaughter of former Michigan Gov. George Romney, said she's "looking at" a Republican run for Senate after Democrat Carl Levin announced he's not going to seek re-election. She was an active campaigner for her uncle Mitt Romney last year.

"It's something I'm going to consider (after) what I saw around the state with how frustrated people were with what's happening in D.C.," Romney McDaniel, 39, told The Detroit News Tuesday night. "Maybe this is a time where we can bring a new voice and get a Republican senator from our state."

What's happening in DC?  Career hack politicos getting by, or surviving on last name recognition, and a disinterested electorate because we know both sides of the Ruling Class are lying to us.

Her father, Scott Romney, Mitt's older brother, told The News that after initially considering a run he has decided against a bid for the seat held for more than three decades by Levin, D-Detroit.

"I decided it just wasn't right for me at this time," Scott Romney [at age 71] said.

Instead, he phoned his daughter Tuesday to urge her to consider.

    Wait for it...  {yawn}

Is this the 52-48 ShowStak Brand rearing its ugly head?  Maybe the CD-11 Star Chamber making their move, again?  Frankly, I could care less about either - MiGOP record of Romney failure: Lenore (1970), Ronna née Rakolta (94 & 96), G. Scott (AG '98), and Willard (08 & 12).  Some folks just can't seem to take a hint.   Sure, Ronna Romney McDaniel (I hate that weird progressive last name thing) may be a nice person, but is one whose only accomplishments to date is being a Northville mother of 2, and managing her uncle's campaign that abandoned Michigan, but equipped with genitalia for the Politically Correct bogus War on Wimmin's.

Between the Bush dynasty, and Romney wannabes, the Team R interlopers are beginning to make the Kennedy clan look like pikers among the last name entitlement leeches.

    Good luck with that.

Just in case you've forgotten, there is a special primary election taking place in the old 11th Congressional District about a week from now.  According to the Official Michigan Special Primary Candidate Listing, this is going to be a non-issue for the democrats, as David Curson is unopposed.  The republican side of that ballot, however, is the entire reason for next week's special election in the first place.  And that's just what the mischief-makers on both sides are probably counting on.

I have yet to figure out how/if Oakland Co plans to spin their way out of not issuing Patterson, and his chauffeur, a retired double-dipping State Trooper tickets for not wearing their seat belts, via The Detroit News

The Oakland County executive and the two drivers involved weren't wearing seat belts, police said Monday.
    ....

No one has been charged in the crash, which is under investigation, Auburn Hills police said. Patterson's eastbound vehicle entered the intersection of Opdyke with a green traffic signal, and the Passat was westbound on Walton turning on to southbound Opdyke with a flashing yellow signal.

"It appears the driver of the Volkswagen failed to yield the right of way, causing the crash," said Auburn Hills Police Deputy Director Thomas Hardesty in a news release Monday.

"Due to the extent of injuries to persons involved in the crash, this case will be presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office when the investigation is complete," according to a news release. "No decision will be made on the issuance of citations until after the case is reviewed by the prosecutor."

Patterson was riding in the front seat of the car, Auburn Hills police have said. Michigan law requires drivers and front-seat passengers to wear seat belts. Violators could face traffic citations.

Could face traffic citation?  WTF?  It's either Rule of Law, or call the whole system in Oakland Co a Wild West free for all.  At this point, all I know is that if I were the driver of the Passat, I'd be on the horn with one of the legalese merchants that's well versed in modified comparative negligence seeing that the prosecutor and the police involved still have their collective thumb up their ass on a cut-n-dry seat belt matter involving their Dear Leader.

Hmmm, as an aside let's see now...  pushing the DIA Tax .. targeting the only Republican on the CD-11 ballot with a costly primary, Big Government "write-in" smearing crony...
