  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    I'm in the wrong business.

What was I thinking getting up at the butt-crack of dawn, jumping in my truck, dealing with four-wheelers and other various headaches throughout the day? Getting home, doing errands around the house and starting the whole thing up again the next day?

I can call myself a democrat, get myself elected by a group of low-grade morons and live the Life of Riley...

    But, I won't!

    I'm better than that.

And I damn sure know that I'm better than the latest piece of flotsam to hit the headlines today.

    So who is it now?

This very important lesson was imparted to me when I had began driving for a living several decades ago by a wise trucker.

Maybe because I had more co-workers who had more conscience about training me at that time, or they were just superior to the people turning out the "young guns" nowadays, but I understood this axiom very clearly even back then, and over the years, have gained a greater appreciation for it.

It is also a lesson that I found is easily and very applicable outside of trucking.

Am I trying to change the focus over from politics to Trucking?

    Not exactly.
