    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Dems to Stupak: We need to keep abortion funding in ObamaCare because babies are too expensive

28Furthermore, since they  did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved  mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with  every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of  envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are  gossips, 30slanderers,  God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they  disobey their parents; 31they  are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know  God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they  not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who  practice them. - Romans 1 (NIV)
These Democrats have truly given themselves over to a depraved mind. They are in actuality inventing ways of doing evil, trying to force We the People to pay for outright murder of the innocent under the force of the state. How ghoulish, how evil is it to put a price tag on a baby yet to be born and use that tag to promote killing that child? Snuffing out a life for potential fiscal solvency of a system to take over 1/6th of the US economy even though Congress has no constitutional authority to do so. This account by MI US Rep. Bart Stupak (D) is just sickening. Our country is being run by a kakistocracy. Truly. From the Corner at NRO via memeorandum: `They Just Want This Over'
Sitting in an airport, on his way home to Michigan, Rep. Bart Stupak, a pro-life Democrat, is chagrined. "They're ignoring me," he says, in a phone interview with National Review Online. "That's their strategy now. The House Democratic leaders think they have the votes to pass the Senate's health-care bill without us. At this point, there is no doubt that they've been able to peel off one or two of my twelve. And even if they don't have the votes, it's been made clear to us that they won't insert our language on the abortion issue."
Stupak points out that unions are putting pressure on him and his pro-life Democrat colleagues. Unions. What happened to the days when unions were about collective bargaining and bennies? What are they doing pushing abortion? Later in the NRO article though, are these very revealing statement about where Democrats really are in their thinking, such as it is:
..."If you pass the Stupak amendment, more children will be born, and therefore it will cost us millions more. That's one of the arguments I've been hearing," Stupak says. "Money is their hang-up. Is this how we now value life in America? If money is the issue -- come on, we can find room in the budget. This is life we're talking about."

    Stupak is not principled.

I've been noticing a lot lately that people are growing complacent on the Socialized Medicine Bill, and I thought we could use a little reminder of how unprincipled Bart Stupak is.

Despite suggestions that Stupak is raising a fuss over abortion funding in the bill, his constituency is more heavily concerned with the bill itself.  Not that the First District isn't overwhelmingly Pro-life, it is, but Stupak is falsely emphasizing the importance of abortion wording in the bill.

The First District is more concerned with the bill itself and it's constitutionality.

It's called a red herring argument.

Here is a youtube clip of Stupak equivocating on abortion.

Is MI GOP Gubernatorial candidate Rick Snyder a pro-abort?

Conservative principles are simple - limited government, low taxes, personal freedom and liberty. The latter is not possible without your life. Our Founding Fathers, in their wisdom, listed life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as our unalienable rights in the Declaration of Independence. It is interesting that the list is in the exact order it should be in since you cannot pursue happiness without liberty, and surely can't have liberty without life. Liberals have turned that on its head by stealing our liberty piece by piece by way of an ever-expanding government that is on an unending campaign to put every citizen under its thumb through government dependency. Even worst, the first unalienable right - life - is no more. At least not for babies. Or the infirm. Or seniors. But every bleeding-hearted liberal is against capital punishment for murderers. Be that as it may, conservative principles have been the mainstay of the Republican party. That is, until 'moderates' came onto the scene. These are people that call themselves Republicans, but don't stand on conservative principles. It is hard in fact to figure out what foundation they do stand on.

Thus enter Rick Snyder, one of several GOP gubernatorial candidates this year. I have at least met most of the other candidates with the exception of Snyder. A year ago, I couldn't have told you who the man was, but he has launched a campaign that included a SuperBowl campaign ad. The theme? Michigan needs a nerd:

The fact that he didn't identify himself as a Republican in the ad was a bit bothersome. So I had to ask - what does a nerd believe?

Stupak sees the writing on the wall

Don't ever say I failed to praise a representative for doing the right thing.  Personally, I applaud Bart Stupak for helping to derail the outright insane health care boondoggle the Democrats in this congress is trying to forward to the President's desk.  The Ivory tower reports:
"Michigan's congressional delegation appears split along partisan lines for any health-care vote -- with one notable exception: Rep. Bart Stupak.

The Menominee Democrat says he can't support the proposal he's seen and not just because it lacks a provision he authored in a previous version to bar insurers receiving government subsidies from paying for abortions.

He can't support an excise tax on higher-priced health care plans, even with the amount at which it kicks in moved higher, and he doesn't like that the effective date for some parts of the legislation has been moved as far off as 2018.

    "That's insane," Stupak said."

I know he CANNOT be surprised..

Tim Tebow's Super Bowl Ad and The Freaks that Oppose it.

    What are they afraid of?

Every "pro-choice" blogger and half-wit out there is throwing a flag at CBS's decision to run a pro-life ad during the Super Bowl.  They are all afraid it will sway public opinion.
Tim Tebow, a Heisman Trophy-winning American football quarterback for the Florida Gators, was born in 1987 when his mother refused her doctor's suggestion to have an abortion.  Infuriated that CBS is airing the Focus on the Family ad during the Super Bowl, pro-aborts are really coming out of the woodwork.

Frances Kissling, former president of Catholics for Choice and Kate Michelman, the former president of NARAL Pro-Choice America wrote a thoughtful, informative piece in the Washington Post that encouraged pro-aborts to make an ad to help spread their message:

The camera focuses on one woman after another, posed in the situations of daily life: rushing out the door in the morning for work, flipping through a magazine, washing dishes, teaching a class of sixth-graders, wheeling a baby stroller. Each woman looks calmly into the camera and describes her different and successful choice: having a baby and giving it up for adoption, having an abortion, having a baby and raising it lovingly. Each one being clear that making choices isn't easy, but that life without tough choices doesn't exist.

Abortion Center That Advertised Abortion As "Sacred Work" Puts Ad Back After Protests

Almost 2 months ago, I shined some light on a grotesque, ghoulish advertisement by  Northland Family Planning Centers of Michigan, who also stated that they "believe in the goodness of our work." There is no "goodness" in filleting a baby. The wording these people use are just sick. They make abortion sound like the moral equivalent of cutting ones hair. After the abortion ad went live, Northland pulled it amidst controversy and protests. 2 months later, it's baaaaack!:
Nobody seemed more excited about the reairing of the ghoulish ad than Laura Berman of The Detroit News: Woman broadcasts abortion message despite protests
Renee Chelian hoped to comfort the women who came to Northland Family Planning Centers when she posted a short video on YouTube around Thanksgiving.

To the naïve or politically clueless, its message is simple and even bland: Good women, too, have abortions.

Apparently, the fact that the ad alluded to religious superiority of abortion - sacred work? - didn't dawn on Berman. Who's being  naïve? Berman almost gleefully details the supposed "onslaught" of... wait for it... phone calls! So "frightened and bewildered" was the pro-abort, who's been in the business for 37 years, by the "ferocity" of the phone calls that she called the FBI. Berman didn't even hint that there were any death threat. Just lots of phone calls. Chelian apparently spent 1 year (!) on the above video. One year on that? As in an entire Earth year? Wow. In any case, there were a few revealing statements written by Berman, likely unintentionally:

Baltimore Law: pet stores must post that they don't sell human slaves

Also, car dealerships must post signs saying that they don't sell motorcycles, hardware stores must post that they don't sell condoms, grocery stores must post that they don't sell marijuana, and dentists must post signs saying they don't do brain surgery. All of those make as much sense as the new Baltimore law that forces crisis pregnancy centers to post that they do not perform abortions. Yet that is exactly what the law requires. From CNS News:Baltimore Law Aims to Undermine Charitable Work of Pregnancy Resource Centers, Say Pro-life Activists

A bill passed by the Baltimore City Council in November and signed into law on Dec. 4 will require pregnancy resource centers operating within the city to post signs stating what services the facilities do not offer. Signs -- to be posted outside the centers -- must state that they do not provide or give referrals for abortion or contraceptives.

Pro-life activists say this is the first time in the United States that a nonprofit service provider has been required to post such signage. They believe the law is intended to undermine their efforts to help women make an informed decision about an unplanned pregnancy. The signs will turn more women to Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers, they say.

"The passage of this piece of legislation may serve as serious encouragement to those who would like to see our organizations saddled with more laws and restrictions," Carol Clews, executive director of the Center for Pregnancy Concerns in Baltimore, told the Baltimore Sun after the council passed the bill by a 12-3 vote in November.

"I cannot think of a single situation where a non-profit organization or for-profit business is required to post a sign that states what it does not do," Peggy Harnshorn, president of Heartbeat International said in a statement submitted at a hearing held prior to the vote on the bill.

The strategy here is clear - regulate crisis pregnancy centers into oblivion. Think this can't happen in Michigan? Think again.
