Those words in the most appropriate context were used by he VP pick Paul Ryan last evening in Tampa.
When he said: "....that's freedom, and I'll take it any day over the supervision and sanctimony of the central planners"The crowd erupted. I openly cheered from my easy chair. He touched on a point that is relevant no matter whom the leadership might be. The interference and 'concern' over the affairs of our lives is too often conflicting with the independence we claim as our birthright. Some folks forget that we have to be able to fail. That risk and reward is a part of the American dream. That sometimes, our decisions make us healthy, and sometimes not. Its NOT government's place to provide a boost for a business. Its NOT government's place to control the healthcare choices through exchanges or limitations on where one buys insurance or the care itself. Its NOT the government's place to provide housing. Nor is it government's place to control the terms of employment, and compensation that business provides. Ryan is correct. Republicans in Michigan and elsewhere ought to take note of the future VP's comments and internalize them.
Its no longer acceptable (as if it ever was) to pretend the good of all requires the abrogation of certain rights. And to laud an 'knowing better than thou' attitude over those who assert such rights is indeed sanctimonious. (1 comment) Comments >> By JGillman, Section News
The MEDC, the 21st Century 'Jobs' fund, and all the other shuffling of resources into the pockets of crony capitalists in Michigan.
It can happen. If there is some courage to do so. I have pledged to introduce legislation and follow through with doing such a thing. A few hoteliers up here are passing around the hat to keep the incumbent in place, so their meal ticket isn't sent packing. They are concerned that I will "destroy what they have built", and fortunately there are courageous ones who pass along the internal messaging of that fact. But in reality what have they built? Or frankly, what has the MEDC built? In a radio interview the other morning, I spoke of the MEDC, Lobbying, and Pure Michigan. I compared the taxpayer paid 'Pure' advertising to what we would have if the state paid for all advertising of business (ala the ACA) I also mentioned the abuse of our tax dollars being thrown at 'venture' firms, as a program being expanded by sponsorship of my opponent. There is quite a bit of failure touted as success, and some things not mentioned by the MEDC.(below the fold) (1 comment, 769 words in story) Full Story By Corinthian Scales, Section News
Pay close attention, easily duped Governerd fanbots.
Unfortunately, CATO pulled its punches on ObamneyCare much like have the goofy edge-nibbling Health Care Compact proponents. The right way of addressing Federally administered RomneyCare for all? (272 words in story) Full Story By Corinthian Scales, Section News
It's yet another pretty sad day for the "DELE-GATE" tattered MI-GOP when even a slippery goonion labor propped up turd like Richardville is cut out of the loop by the Governerd.

Despite a big grin on his face, Gov. Rick Snyder sidestepped questions Tuesday morning about a possible announcement this week on an agreement to build a new bridge to Canada. Bull. Sh!t! It's more than obvious that this shady Canadian schemed Public Private Partnership, Chicom and NAFTA entwined goonion labor payola boondoggle Bridge deal being foisted upon U.S. taxpayers by the Governerd, Prince William Clay II, and LaHood just has to reek to high heaven. Frankly, I'm not so sure anymore that if we all ended up with a Gov Bernero instead of the Ann Arbor Nerd, that 'ol Virg would've been as brazen and as slimy in this unnecessary bridge as Ricky Ardesta is. As much as I hate to say it, even a lame-duck Jenny the now Wartless wasn't this devious and clandestine when pursuing it as the DRIC. TEA movement folk, y'all might want to be seriously scouting for a Governerd primary challenger now. By JGillman, Section News
Wayne Schmidt didn't get the memo.
We don't need anymore of that, thank you. In fact, Republicans are supposed to be for SMALLER government. Further, one might think Northern Michigan Republicans ought to be even a little more conservative on matters of property rights, exclusionary areas, and doling out cash or favors to specific and targeted groups. Its called "central planning," and its the kind of thing that can be repeatedly demonstrated as inefficient, and costly to land owners, taxpayers, and entire economies. Representative Schmidt needs to get a little sleep and ask himself what he will do when he is no longer able to call himself a Republican. Many of us have stopped already. Best intentions don't very well make up for the mistake of seeking liberal ends. Championing progressive causes, and now taking a page from Mao's playbook (managing farms for the good of all) with top down government managed "smart zones"? Terrible, Comrade! OK, maybe not THAT bad. .. Yet.
It certainly comes from Jenny G's book however. (below the fold) (5 comments, 1077 words in story) Full Story By Corinthian Scales, Section News
That dosen't sound very positive to me, but, ya, the GoverNerd is across the boarder kissing the Canuck's ring.
Mr. Snyder acknowledged that the new bridge remains a tough sell in Michigan, where relatively few people understand the vital role the bridge plays in getting U.S. exports to markets in Canada and beyond. The project was first proposed more than five years ago. Certainly that has nothing to do with the $500 million gesture that you begged the Canadians for or your PAC.
"I understand why they're spending the money," he said of the Morouns. "It's economic self-interest. The troubling part is the lack of accuracy in what they represent." Well, that inaccuracy has always been on the governments behalf, GoverNerd. It's well documented here. Simply hit any of the 'Tags'. God bless Mr. Moroun for fighting for us taxpayers against this NAU abomination. By Corinthian Scales, Section News
This calls for a celebration.
Minutes earlier, a substitute bill supported by Democrats, which provided community benefits for the Delray area of southwest Detroit, where the bridge would be located, was voted down, 5-2, on a party-line vote. Thank you to all the No votes that killed this unwanted boondoggle. The ball is in your end of the court GoverNerd.... (5 comments) Comments >> By Corinthian Scales, Section News

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is meeting with business representatives in Shanghai today on the third day of his trade mission to China. What? No Jinhua City?!?!
Sure puts a whole new perspective on those that beg for scraps don't it...
