  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Stabenow Speaks on Health Care

What is it with our esteemed overlords in that they cannot go after fraud and waste until another $1 trillion or so dollars are pumped into the system?

It has been said, wisely I might add, that you have to follow the money. Large pools of dollars themselves create the potential for fraud and abuse. Management of pools of money this large become, almost by definition, impossible to rid of abuse. A small budget of, for argument's sake, $100 is easy to watch. Each transaction can be evaluated as to its need. This becomes less and less true as the amounts of money reach into the millions, billions, and trillions.

As money pools reach astronomical levels, more and more individuals have to enter the system as overseers and administrators. Each and every one of these added individuals is another crack through which lost money may flow. A fifty dollar transaction in a $100 budget is large enough to pay attention to. A million dollar expense in a budget of several hundred billion becomes like a drop to a bucket.

This is one of our Senators!

For Michigan voters who continually elect Debbie Stabenow to represent us in the Senate, I hope you are proud of her.  As she advocates massive tax increases on Michigan businesses, through the cap and confiscate bill, you should be comforted in the fact that Stabenow can "feel global warming when she flies".

From Henry Payne's Sketchbook at Detroit News dot com:

"Climate change is very real," she confessed as she embraced cap and trade's massive tax increase on Michigan industry - at the same time claiming, against all the evidence, that it would not lead to an increase in manufacturing costs or energy prices. "Global warming creates volatility. I feel it when I'm flying. The storms are more volatile. We are paying the price in more hurricanes and tornadoes."

Michigan, we voted for Levin, Granholm and Stabenow, this is what we get!

    God help us!

The stimulus bill  President Obama and nearly all Democrat Senators and all Democrat Representatives want to ram down our throats has other names, more appropriate names.  Rush Limbaugh has called it the Porkulus Bill, referring to it's massive amount of earmarks.  Senator Tom Coburn has another name for it, The Generational Theft Act.
