To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

Some tips:

Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

If You Happen To Be Out

Stop over at 12:30 p.m. at: Grand Blanc Mall, 12821 S. Saginaw St, Grand Blanc, MI. And sorry for the late notice. Show up to support Paul Scott as the MEA attempts to effect his recall from office.

I am not a big fan of Paul Scott. He is not a BAD guy, but one that has a bad instinct as seen with the unconstitutional smoking ban vote. So when he is trying to obtain higher office, you will likely see me opine to his political detriment, or at least support opponents who have a better understanding of appropriate law.

But right now the MEA is flexing and using Scott as a bully might use the weak link on the school grounds; to intimidate any others who might oppose them. But the MEA is rolling the dice a bit. CapCon notes:

"When the MEA engineered the petition drive to recall Scott, it was taking a risk. If Scott manages to win the recall election, the MEA could have a tough time arguing that voters have rejected Snyder's policies. That makes Scott's recall election a high stakes event. With no other major election issues this fall, Republicans and groups that generally support them are willing to spend money in the 51st. This, in turn, is forcing the MEA and other union forces to spend money there as well."

In the dice game, "craps", rolling a seven after establishing a point takes it all away and the house wins, and rewards those who bet against it.
