  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

I'll be hitting the blog list cull and add session again soon enough, and figured it would be a good time to highlight a couple of our Michigan based blogs.

One that I am glad to see back up and regular is the Hall of Record.  A Natural Solution to Our energy Needs today talks about the use of Natural Gas for vehicles. I have commentary, but will share it when there is a field to place it in. (Hint)

The Blog of Bodnar hits the national interest Republican presidential results of Iowa in Iowa Is Over Whats Next?  Take a breath.  Indeed.

Jack McHugh at CapCon picks up the right to work story recently highlighted by Mitch Daniels of Indiana.  Strong Support for Right-to-Work Measures in the Michigan Legislature reminds us that there are folks in Lansing that have been actively pursuing this even over the fear of the nerd and senate majority leader.

Could cities in Michigan be the next to "ban the box"?  The Wizard of Laws considers it in America's Newest Protected Class -- Felons! Keep the Crystal Ball warmed up wiz, and maybe some alka seltzer on the side. We'll need it.

Conservative First has been gracious enough to pass a few gems over to this forum in the last year.  A few of them you may not have seen, but he highlights the best over at the Western Right.

Update [2012-1-5 7:29:0 by JGillman]: I HAD to add this. God Bless you Rose. Wayne County Taxpayers - Recalling Recall and Senate Joint Resolution 5 I am with you.

    Blogroll Updates - Round II

First, I would like to announce an Add.  Occasionally, I get an update from Bill Johnson, and usually its a pretty good read. In fact, Detroit business: Build your own train had one part that struck me squarely in the "damn right" node.
"But if local investors really believe that a light rail system can be built economically, operated efficiently and pay for itself, there's nothing preventing them from putting their own money on the line. Even better, make the case for private, unsubsidized buses to provide transit service in the region."

Keep preaching Bill, we've got your back here anyhow.

Almost pulled Danian Michael's Political Agenda blog link, but he has gone long stretches at times.  Next edit he comes off if there is no update.  He DOES have some good Michigan links as well.  I may go through some of those for additions.

Another one that I couldn't let go of, was the incredible body of work by Bruce Hall. Much of it timeless and well reasoned.  Bruce took a writing sabbatical and I have not been able to twist his arm hard enough to get back in it yet.

Jack McHugh seems to have abandoned his personal blog, Jack McHugh's blog. We can find him over at Cap Con often enough anyhow, so off it goes.

That's a wrap for today.  It gets us to the Ks.  Once again, if you have any Michigan centric conservative, or Right of center blogs, please let me know.  We need to build the readership of these blogs and the traffic from here can be quite high.
