  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    Healthcare Exchange Or Bridge?

    Which will it be governor?

It took me a while, but I found something that had my interest piqued a couple of years ago when arguing the merits of leaving the DIBC as it is. The facts were not entirely scrubbed from the Detroit Chamber's site, and I wonder how well the travel numbers used to argue for a new bridge will stand up when health care choices are destroyed here as they are in Canada.

"Hubbard pointed out to the committee that the Detroit/Windsor/Port Huron/Sarnia area is home to the busiest border crossing in North America in terms of volume of trade (more than $1 billion in goods crosses daily). Additionally, metro Detroit is home to major passenger vehicle traffic - between 3000 and 4000 Canadian health care workers entering the region every day."
    Incentive is a reality.

    Say NO to Obamacare.

Michigan can be a part of the growing number of states nullifying it.

Action Alert! RTL Mistakenly Supporting Exchanges

Don't believe a word you hear from supporters of Obamacare being implemented in any way. you are being lied to. This popped into the inbox today.

Tina Dupont of the Tea Party of West Michigan writes:

    "ALERT, ALERT, ALERT!!!!

    ..

Michigan Right To Life has been convinced (guess by who)that a state written exchange will keep us from paying for abortions. They are a strong lobbying group in Lansing as you all know and they are, as I write this, working on our House members to get them to vote to use 9.8 Mill (our federal tax dollars) to start the process of writing a state exchange. Also NFIB has started to do likewise.

Please Please Please, this has to go viral. We must pressure MI RTL to stop this madness and call our Michigan House yet again to encourage them to stay the course. Rep Haines has put up a very valiant fight for us and we must buck her up now so that she can hold her stand against this horrible confiscation of such a large chunk of our economy by Obama and his group of thugs!

We know that it will not matter who writes this thing as the feds (HHS) will force us to pay for abortions. HHS has total control and they want this badly.

The exchange will be available in later years if we find we cannot stop this thing. It does not have to be done today, now.

She is correct. The exchange MUST NOT HAPPEN.

Watch the video.  Then have your state legislator tell Washington to shove this intrusion into state's rights where the thermometer might go.

    Don't sit around.  Call now.

A Message To Our Legislators - Beware False Choices

Understanding the Health Care Litigation, Part One

The big event of the U.S. Supreme Court's 2011-2012 term -- and perhaps the most important since Brown v Board of Education -- will be the decision on the various cases involving the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. commonly known as Obamacare.

The issues to be argued are known generally by the public, but few understand them in any detail.  For example, during a recent forum, the Lieutenant Governor here in the Enchanted Mitten, arguing for a state-established health care exchange, said that even if the Court finds the individual mandate unconstitutional, it will have no effect on health care exchanges, since HCEs are not before the Court.  This position is not exactly accurate.  If the Court determines that the individual mandate is unconstitutional. it will then  expressly decide whether the entire law must be struck down, including those provisions pertaining to health care exchanges.

    Better Choices?

Governor Snyder has had an opportunity to join with 26 other states in repudiating the destruction of our health care by the liar in chief and a capitulating congress.

But he has done nothing of the sort.

And while our attorney general Bill Schuette is supposedly fighting against Obamacare as unconstitutional, we have a Snyder enabler Jim Marleau pushing for the finishing touches on the insurance exchanges.

The bottom line is that Obamacare requires every citizen to purchase government approved health insurance under penalty of law, beginning in 2014. Key to enforcing the "Individual Mandates," are federally-regulated health insurance exchanges, which will be set up in each state to facilitate the sale of this mandated insurance.

The law gives states the option to set up an exchange or have the federal government do it for them. Some states (and Legislators) mistakenly believe that if they set up an exchange, they will preserve state control over the exchange. However, Washington bureaucrats will be at the controls regardless of whether the exchange is state or federally established.

Have REPUBLICAN State Senator Jim Marleau tell the feds to take their crappy mandate and shove it where the prostate test goes.
