Despite the overwhelming lack of support from Michigan Motorists, Michigan Legislators (unless your name happens to be either Wayne Schmidt or Roger Kahn), and anyone else not associated with MITA, the word on the street is that just like the Energizer Bunny, Gov. Snyder is still going and going at it behind the scenes trying to get another one of his tax hikes approved.
This is coming from a man who loves to make local units of government jump through hoops to get money from the state. He'll require graphs, charts, metrics, notarized forms signed in triplicate and your mother's maiden name before even considering appropriating any money. Unfortunately, he still won't hold himself to the very same standard that he requires of others. Why is that?

That's prolly the nicest thing I have to say about Lansing Republicans. They aren't even faking it anymore, they just want to raid folks bank accounts.
via The Detroit News
Bills introduced Wednesday in the state Senate include a proposed constitutional amendment to raise the 6 percent sales tax to 8 percent and devote the extra revenue to transportation funding. A scant few days after the Obama amnesty loving Nerd finished his SOTS, there you have it. Senate republicrats rushed to hammer out SJR J (Richardville - Kahn/Caswell) tie bar to SB 85 (Kahn - Pappageorge), and SB 88 (Kahn), or SB 86 (Kahn), and SB 87 (Kahn). Look, Team R Governerd lackeys, you serve feces on a croissant, but it's still a sh*t sandwich. Look elsewhere for revenue? Oh, Hell no. Tax 'em because it's a crisis. If I were one of the Socialists on Team D, I would make you Lansing republicans pay through the nose for that tax hiking yes vote you need to pass either of that crap being served. And, they will.

Michigan voters could face a May 7 vote on how they want to pay for billions of dollars in road and bridge repairs in the next few years. Yessirree, SSDD in Lansing.
Funny how 2¢ was viewed not long ago. Keep that stiff upper lip, Speaker Bolger. (3 comments) Comments >> By Corinthian Scales, Section News
Stand tall, legislators! The One Term Nerd works to undermine your most every important move. There are options available to help solve road funding. Ps. standing tall includes all local Party leaders, too. (2 comments) Comments >> By Corinthian Scales, Section News
While we all await the Governerd's State of the State address focusing on infrastructure, I just happened to come across another gas tax scam the Feds are toying with again, via The Examiner
An on-again, off-again move by the Obama administration to scrap the federal gas tax in favor of a pay-per-mile fee would boost the tab to Americans as high as 250 percent, raising their current tax of 18.4 cents a gallon to as high as 46 cents, according to a new government study. Yannow, for the life of me, I just can't begin to imagine the many reasons why the road funds would go dry?
Anyone up for the Governerd's bike trail from Detroit to Wisconsin? WDIV's Roger Weber says, "wouldn't it be a blast". (3 comments) Comments >> By KG One, Section News
Detroit, Michigan.
About one month ago. Governor Snyder refuses to release several million dollars in bond money to keep the City of Detroit running until it can show quantifiable financial benchmarks to demonstrate that it is on-track towards fiscal responsibility. The whole "rearranging-the-deckchairs-on-the-Titanic" argument notwithstanding, on the surface it is the most prudent thing to do. Don't give irresponsible people any more money to waste until they show a little responsibility with what they already have. If only that management principle remained constant.

You are driving back home after a long business trip.
You're looking forward to returning because you have plans to meet with family and friends, some you whom you haven't seen in a long time, when you get back early in the evening. You've made arrangements to meet everyone at a very popular local restaurant at several weeks ago and don't want to miss your reservation you put a lot of work into getting. This trip you've made several times before and are familiar with the route. It is a clear and sunny day. You're not speeding, driving erratically, or doing anything that would, in any way, draw any attention whatsoever to your vehicle.
While you are still several hours away from your home, you see a sign on the side of the road:
You think to yourself; I must have just recently missed something very serious on the news for them to be stopping everyone. After waiting for what seems like hours in a long line of vehicles leading up to the checkpoint, you finally approach an officer. You ask them what happened. They simply respond by saying, "License, registration and proof of insurance, please." You pull it out of your wallet, hand it to them. The officer asks how long you were driving, where you are coming from, where you are going. After this, they take your papers with them and walk away. While this is happening, you notice a number of other officers are walking around your vehicle, looking in your windows at the contents on the back seat, scrutinizing your license plate, VIN plate and examining other areas around your vehicle. The officer returns and asks you to exit your vehicle. Anxiety begins to set in when you get out and they direct you away from your vehicle. When you are walking away, you notice the same officers around your vehicle begin to open the hood, doors and trunk and begin to do a more thorough search for something. What it is, you do not know. The officer you are with asks you several questions until they see the other officers around your vehicle motioning to come back to your vehicle. You are asked to remain where you are while they walk away. Not very far from where you are standing, you see them begin to converse among themselves, and flipping through clipboards while feverously writing things down.
You start to ask yourself: Are they looking for me? (14 comments, 1194 words in story) Full Story By KG One, Section News
Less government, lower taxes and more freedom.
Does anybody here have a problem with that? These people do.
