There have been recalls in the past on automotive products. There have also been lawsuits. I don't recall the FBI raiding a Michigan business on the basis of a recall investigation:
Warrants were served late Tuesday on the Detroit-area offices of three Japanese parts suppliers: Denso International America, Yazaki North America and Tokai Rika, also known as Tram, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said. OK.. hmm perhaps we take a look at the facts.. Toyota has fought the UAW tooth and nail while developing its manufacturing structure here.. Two of the big three were failing as a result of the unions and poor management(capitulation with the unions) and government bought and paid for by the unions (Democrats..).. The government steps in and "saves" the carmakers from bankruptcy, with the end result of the unions owning a significant share of those two, and the "federal government owning the other parts, and then Toyota's unfortunate defects turn up.... Nah.. really nothing but a coincidence. (13 comments) Comments >> By DMOnline, Section News
Feeling frustrated by actions taken by our two US Senators to shove government-controlled health care down our throats?
I know I am. There's a feeling of utter helplessness. Despite polling data showing two-thirds of Americans against ObamaCare, Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin happily vote to strip us of our liberties and freedoms, to worsen the quality of our health care, and to bankrupt our nation with a brand new entitlement we simply cannot afford and do not want. We do have an option, however, and it's one that scares the living daylights out of any elected politician - RECALL. Surely there are readers of this blog that are well-versed in the procedures, rules, and red tape involved. If we really want to send a message that Stabenow and Levin work for us (and not the other way around), we need to get organized and launch our recall against them now.

You know there will be a great deal of political action in the near future, and as 2010 rolls through we will still be stuck with two of the most incompetent senators.
Unless... we take the opportunity to reflect on the constitutionality of their voting records, and base a recall effort on their failure to abide by their oath of office: A recent (final?) ruling in US District may affect these two, and I just felt the need to get some people thinking.. There are reasons to recall your elected official. And there are as many opinions about the level of broken trust required to instigate recall as there are politicians. So where do we jump off? At what point do we say enough is enough? We started the Recall Posse idea to inspire and move forward demands of accountability by our elected representatives. However, some don't agree on the method. (4 comments, 634 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News

By Jeff McQueen The passage of the American Clean Energy & Security Act (House Bill 2454), also known as Cap & Trade, is the height of treachery by 219 of our representatives in the U.S. Congress. In the vote recorded at 7:17 p.m. this evening, 211 Democrats and 8 Republicans joined together to get the bill passed in the House. Make no mistake this bill will increase the cost of your utilities, gasoline, and everything you buy, all in the name of weak Global Warming science, which is under increasing daily attack in the scientific community. The names of those who banded together in this act of tyranny, can be found by clicking on this link: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2009/roll477.xml Tomorrow, according to a multi-state conference call I just attended, thousands of Americans will take to the streets and to the steps of their state capitols in an act of outrage not witnessed in this country in decades. After the dust settles, recall campaign applications must be sent for the recall of these members of Congress in their counties. Many states have written their recall procedures to make it very difficult to recall a politician. Here in Michigan, a recall campaign can last no longer than 180 days. The signatures on the petitions must come from voters living in the district of the targeted politician. The number of signatures need is 25% of the volume of voters who voted in that district for Governor in the last Governors' election. Today, I discovered Gary Peters from the 9th District voted in favor of this Bill. I called the County Clerk's Office to confirm exactly how many signatures I would need to recall him. The answer was 70,546 verifiable signatures, not over 90 days old. Basically this means you have 90 days from filing to plan the recall and the 2nd 90 days to collect all the signatures needed. In Michigan, people can come from other districts to help collect signatures (this may not be true in other states). I suggest, in the spirit of the Revolutionary "Minutemen" we be ready on short notice to be called to join a "T.A.R.P." This will be a Saturday event, with 500 to 1,000 people volunteering to canvass a district to collect signatures each on a recall petition. I suspect in a few hours a large well-organized group can meet, get a petition and street assignment with directions and deploy to gather signatures. I recommend the first trial of this procedure be used in my 9th District, with Congressman Gary Peters as the target. I suspect it will meet with great success. Jeff McQueen

Rough day yesterday for Michigan Democrats. Oh, sure, we've got the normal stories about big-time manufacturers handing out brand new pink slips to hundreds of Michigan moms and dads (this time its GM's Flint operation, axing 150), we've got the annual pre-spring story about how bad Michigan's roads... and this time it looks like the Granholm-Cherry administration is failing to keep up with repairs in spectacular new ways.
Much worse, though, is the darker reality hiding beneath an Ivory Tower story about the closing of a single small business in downtown Detroit. The owners of Zaccaro's Market set-up shop less than a year ago amid all of the hullabaloo about the renaissance of the Motor City. There were promises of new jobs, new development, new housing and rebirth. There weren't just promises either... there were reports and plans and momentum. Remember the Governor's State of the State speech and that twenty-minute self-adulation session in the middle where she took credit for promises of thousands of new jobs? Commitments, pledges, plans, the whole deal? Cindy Warner heard those same golden dreams ten months ago and bought them, hook, line and sinker. One little problem... promises and pledges and plans aren't the same as real jobs. Read on... (4 comments, 550 words in story) Full Story |
