From a Press Release, Moments ago..
LIVONIA, MI--Mike Cox today announced the addition to his campaign team of two experienced and prominent figures in Michigan and Republican Party politics. Democrats hoping to turn a recent "discovery" by a maid after a Republican gathering into gold for their party might want to settle down and think about some other things politic. Excitement over a presentation to Republican leadership should fade fast when put to contrast with Democrat collusion efforts, cover ups and open deceit. Politico reports:
"The Republican National Committee plans to raise money this election cycle through an aggressive campaign capitalizing on "fear" of President Barack Obama and a promise to "save the country from trending toward socialism." Politico's piece has sparked a number of lefty blogs, who are looking for anything they can find to turn attention away from the FAIL Obama policies and the current debate on the monstrous government health care takeover. Using a paltry 2 pages from the presentation found, Democrats have begun to rail on Republican efforts to milk the rich donors based on the fears of this country turning to socialism etc.. But at the same time ignoring that many donors were AT THE RETREAT where the presentation was made. (7 comments, 756 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News
While we might not yet rest easy, it should be noted that the Republicans did as well a job as could have been expected. In fact, demonstrated they were prepared for the meeting in a way that showed the country that there are other alternatives to a top down take over of our health care decisions. A fine performance indeed.
Congratulations to our (Michigan) Representative Dave Camp, and the excellent performance of the GOP leader Boehner, Ryan and company. Please don't think it is done however. If you think the arrogance of the left which was on display in full living color streamed over the TV and on line will settle for a drubbing as a reward for their pitiful poetry reading of the victims of real life, you might think again. The smell of complete control over a 5th of the economy is a political aphrodisiac of inordinate measure. It makes them HOT. (2 comments, 416 words in story) Full Story By JGillman, Section News

If you haven't heard, Michigan has been in a recession. In fact, it has been an ongoing problem for about 5 or 6 years. The funny thing is, though the country is now getting a taste of what Michigan has endured in that time, there will be many throughout the country that have the same willful ignorance of the cause of their malaise. Sadly some of the most skilled orators are the most deceptive. Trusting her judgment is not an option any longer. In fact, there is nothing redeeming about the miserable failure Jennifer Granholm and the machine which placed her in the driver's seat of the work truck of the nation. Michigan needs a mechanic pretty badly now, as the brakes are shot, the tank is 3/4 empty, and we are running on 2 flat tires.
Tomorrow, Jennifer Granholm will tell us we need to re-upholster the seats however. . (11 comments, 342 words in story) Full Story By Jay Riemersma, Section News
I've never believed that problems largely created by the government will be remedied by more government. This is certainly true as it relates to health care reform. Unfortunately, more government is exactly what Congress and the Obama administration are prescribing.

Republican Dierdre Scozzafava abruptly suspended her campaign today. She did so while saying
"I hereby release those individuals who have endorsed and supported my campaign to transfer their support as they see fit." She did not however endorse the conservative Hoffman, who is in reality a Republican. Enough said? Conservatism is quite alive.. and well. God Bless America.. originally posted on http://biggovernment.com They were "Wide Awakes" - scores of torchbearers marching through sleepy hamlets to herald the emancipation of a people from the bonds of slavery into God-given liberty. These despised and decried champions of human freedom and defenders of American Union proudly called themselves "Republicans." Through the ensuing decades of political triumphs, falters and defeats, we Republicans never forgot our honorable heritage - until today. Amidst the stormy present, some of our compatriots suffer from an apocalyptic intimation that America's revolutionary experiment in human freedom and self-government is over. They are wrong. Lets all be non-politico shall we? My goodness, when the dust clears and we look at who crossed the finish line, certainly a fair race would mean a genuine win. Right? The Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference was certainly an important event to be sure, and particularly coming into the next BIG cycle of 2010 elections. Friendships reinforced, loyalties affirmed, and a chance for those who aren't yet recognized as legitimate players, to show their potential and perhaps win some support. A win for a relative unknown in the conference governor's "straw poll" would be considered a boost for that candidate. (14 comments, 454 words in story) Full Story
