Nearly everyone knows SOMEONE who is on the public dole. Whether it is food stamps or corporate thievery, (not covered in this essay) shouldn't the taxpayer have the right to know where his resources are channeled by government? Especially given the "Sobering Data" published in the DHS sanctioned Michigan lottery report in 2012

After revelations that at least two major lottery winners were STILL collecting assistance, the report was commissioned and legislative action has been sought to address such abuse.  At the same time Democrat legislators like Rashida Tlaib take the typical progressive route and wish to encourage more abuse through inaction. By attempting to assign shame, that might be more appropriately placed on those who beg for assistance and abuse our generosity by gambling with it, to the DHS director Corrigan (God Bless Her) who sees a problem.

"Though DHS found 19 people with lottery winners of more than $100,000, 83 percent of lottery winners on welfare rolls won less than $5,000. Democratic state Rep. Fashida Tlaib accused the agency of being too harsh on people with small lottery winnings.

"I just think Director [Maura] Corrigan is more passionate about kicking people off the system than preventing fraud," Tlaib told the Detroit News.

Corrigan advocated for a law to "intercept" lottery winnings from those on welfare.

This is precisely why the GOP's foisted on us flip-flopping Willard received my NOTA vote.  This is also why the One Term Nerd will not be receiving my vote in '14.  Tho, you have time to course correct, Governerd.  Choice is yours.

L'Anse Creuse High School was evacuated Tuesday morning after an airman from the Selfridge Air National Guard Base went to the school, spooking staff by wearing his camouflage uniform military fatigues.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said the 21-year-old airman, a former student, was at the school at about 6 a.m. attempting to get a letter of recommendation.

A member of the midnight-shift custodial staff spotted the man entering the school in his camouflage military fatigues, a flak jacket and a holster with no weapon in it.

An armed robber held up a teacher at gunpoint inside a small arts school in a Jamaica Plain neighborhood Wednesday night. The incident, along with a second robbery in the area Thursday night has police stepping up patrols in the area near Eliot Street, an area considered a walking neighborhood near Monument Square.

On Wednesday night, a suspect described as a black man in his 20's, about 5-feet-8 inches to 6-feet-1 inches tall, medium build and wearing a hoodie made his way to the second floor of the Eliot School of Fine and Applied Arts.

Executive Director Abigail Norman says he showed a weapon and demanded the teacher's wallet and cellphone.

"He (the teacher) had a lot of poise, lived in the city his whole life, and knew to give the stuff away," she said.
