Today we learn that a change of heart has occurred.

"I've learned some things here. I wish we could wind back the clock a bit on this," Principal Matt Outlaw told The Associated Press.

"I spoke to the senator. I apologized for the situation," Outlaw said. "He's very excited to come here. He mentioned that he's been to the Grosse Pointe community many times. ... We think we'll have a very large crowd."

That year, Yob was the chairman of the credentials committee, and during one of their meetings was invited into a side room into a conference with Rich Bond (then the RNC Chairman) and President Bush.  Bay Buchanan, Pat Buchanan's sister and campaign manager, was expected to be making an appearance at the meeting, and the president had some instructions for what he thought needed to be done.

What Bush wanted Yob to do was to let Buchanan lay out her entire case, put all her cards on the table.  After that, he was to spend the next 5 hours picking apart all of her arguments, and keep her in that room arguing her case for the rest of the afternoon.  And then, at 4 o'clock, he was to give up and let Buchanan have whatever she was still asking for.  She'd take the story back to her people that they'd fought all day with the establishment, and at least got them to give ground on what really mattered.  The story that would go back to the Bush supporters that they'd negotiated all day with the challenger's team, and finally given them their way on some positions that really didn't matter . . . for the good of the party.

I think that there is a lesson taught here that really should have been applied to the 2012 Republican Presidential Primary Campaign . . . and the 2012 Republican National Convention (especially when viewed in light of the 1964 campaign).

Two advisers to Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich say he will formally end is campaign next Tuesday and will likely endorse Mitt Romney.

Gingrich had pinned his hopes on a surprise showing in Delaware but fell short.

He had been hinting in recent days that his campaign was nearing an end. His decision to officially shut down the effort comes as Romney has a lock on the GOP nomination.

Yet again, we need to go back to Yogi Berra . . . and then go below the fold.

Consistently over the years, a strong value driven community has developed.  Even throughout, and ESPECIALLY through the last couple of months of challenge with our own favored party, we have remained consistent to our principles. We believe in following the rules, we believe in principle over party. And our dedication to the family unit, and the sanctity of life, and the miracle of God we see through our children carries us through even the losses we must endure.

The trials Bella Santorum has undergone in her short life are incredible when contrasted with much of our own experiences.  Her hurt could only be second however, to that which her loving parents must endure as she faces a certain fate.  The loss of such a precious child can only be amplified by the value in which the Santorums place God's gift.

A gift that brought such joy to a family that seemingly had so much already.

Let us not forget the contrasts between us and those whom we oppose politically.  This lesson in the best of humanity, the resignation of Rick Santorum's campaign in favor of perhaps a very short time left he can spend with his daughter only drives home the difference more clearly.
