    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

Early Friday morning the day after Thanksgiving, Michigan conservatives lost a good friend.  David Hinz, blogger of "The Minority Report," was killed in a car accident on I-94 just west of Chelsea.  According to a kindly-written Jackson Citizen Patriot article, he hit a patch of black ice.

Through the ensuing decades of political triumphs, falters and defeats, we Republicans never forgot our honorable heritage - until today.  Amidst the stormy present, some of our compatriots suffer from an apocalyptic intimation that America's revolutionary experiment in human freedom and self-government is over.  They are wrong.

Years ago when I was a teenager, my brother would find a time when my other brothers/and  or I were listening to the radio and strike up a conversation.  Then every now and again when we weren't looking he would ever so slightly turn the volume up, so that after about 20 minutes we would be yelling at each other, never even realizing the volume had gotten so high.  He was through incrementalism, able to change our environment without us even realizing it was happening. Does it sound familiar?

Often, the true conservative is admonished by those [moderates] who claim it is a little absurd to object to minor changes in public policy, such as seat belt legislation, those seen in gun laws, or even in environmental mandates.  These are either "necessary issues," as some claim, or perhaps even those "which can't hurt to pass, as it doesn't take anything away." So, because it isn't TOO important, the conservative is sectioned off and separated from the herd to fall to the wolves.  But the conservative has always been right.
