  • Your New Scoop Site

    Welcome to Scoop!

To help you figure things out, there is a Scoop Admin Guide which can hopefully answer most of your questions.

    Some tips:

    • Most of the layout is changed in "Blocks", found in the admin tools menu
    • Features can be turned on and off, and configured, in "Site Controls" in the admin tools menu
    • Stories have an "edit" link right beside the "Full Story" link on an index page, and right beside the "Post a Comment" link on the full story page. They can also be edited by clicking the story title in the "Story List" admin tool
    • Boxes are what allow you to write new features for Scoop; they require a knowledge of the perl programming language to work with effectively, although you can often make small changes without knowing much perl. If you would like a feature added but cannot program it yourself, ScoopHost does custom Scoop programming as one of its services.
    • If you aren't sure where to look for a particular feature or piece of display, try the "Search Admin Tools" link in the admin tools menu.

    After all...

We all know cash is king... Or maybe better stated, "FOR Kings.."  Contributions to the coffers of political despots often encourages their favors, and the green is the grease of the political wheels.  And Dingell, as well as Snyder got plenty of grease to go around.

Fact of life..  Bring the king a gift for his pleasure and thou shalt have his dispensation.

Snyder loves kings..  In fact he might well fancy himself the "Nerd King" in waiting..  Working his own royal treasury from the peasants, that consummate power player, Rick Snyder must have gifted well enough over time to warrant the investment of $7.5 Million in taxpayer funds to his own business venture; Ardesta.

    More below the fold....

How could the day slip by without the mention of RMs favorite tax raiser, and his ambition to be top executive of the state of Michigan?  Certainly would we not be forgetting to talk about the one, the man, the only speaker EVER to be recalled for removal in Michigan, Mr. Andy Dillon.

It seems as though it was only Months ago, that we were praising the House Speaker for his stand on a state employee health purchasing option. In fact it WAS only months ago, that Dillon (contrary to the position of his union supporters) rang the bell, leaving little wiggle room for speculation that he would abstain from the governors race in this upcoming cycle.  He expressed a relatively "conservative" position on the matter, and set the tone for what will now follow as an slightly more than interesting primary race for the Michigan Democrat party.

But he is still a tax raiser.

Just over one year into his presidency, Mr. Obama is finding that true leadership requires more than lofty ideals, eloquent words and rigid partisanship. Facing a deficit of political capital that rivals that of our own country, he must now decide to push forward in defiance or to begin the slow and inevitable crawl back from the furthest corners of leftist ideology.

I am in the 1st district where I am taxed without representation.  Stupak is my Congressional Representative.

I found this podcast of the Frank Beckmann show, which is only accessible in these parts by computer streaming.

I am a huge fan of Frank Beckmann, even though I don't get to listen to him very often.

    The podcast runs 17 minutes, you should listen to it, but here is my take of what was said;

    Gitmo North

While we wait to hear the fate of the prison of Standish, MI, let's put together the facts. The facility is one of a few in the U.S.that may be used to house Guantanamo Bay detainees.

Stupak, Congressman of the 1st District, is enthusiastic about the idea, and helped suggest his district as a home to the Gitmo prisoners.  He first suggested an Upper Peninsula prison, but settled on Standish, which was due to close November 1st, 2009, 150 miles from Dearborn.

The town is divided on the issue, but efforts led by Dave Munson, and Kelly Kimball to oppose the transfer to the small prison town seem effective.  Munson  has testified in Washington D.C., and Kimball has been involved with protesting the move.
